If there is one skin care brand I absolutely love, it is undoubtedly Payot. They have such a great skin care range targeting an array of problems, from brightening to oil-controlling to anti-ageing. They even have a whole Men Care range that comes in black packaging which I find to be so apt. Because concluding from my husband’s attitude, God forbid a man is caught using a face moisturizer that comes in bubblegum pink packaging!
A recent Payot addition to my skin care routine is this Elixir Refiner, that comes in a weighty glass bottle with a lovely ombré effect. I have a thing for glass bottles, even though I am fully aware that it is not the smartest thing when you have two mischievous toddlers running around. Just last week, I almost suffered a heart-attack when I left the room mid-routine to pick up my phone, forgetting the skincare drawer open. The scene I returned to is not one that I would like to revisit. There were my kids, grinning goofily at me through layers of expensive creams slathered all over their faces. And, because that clearly was not quite enough, the youngest one was reaching for yet another jar (yep, you guessed it – glass!).
This Elixir Refiner is a lovely, lightweight, green serum that is both mattifying and pore-minimizing, targeted for both oily and combination skin types. It is formulated using amongst others, pomegranate extract that is responsible for the mattifying effect, and Hyaluronic acid which leaves the skin looking nicely plump and hydrated. It can be used both as a day and night serum, but I personally use it in the mornings right before my moisturizer because I love how my foundation sits on top of it.
I distribute one pump of this serum on my forehead, chin, cheeks, and on my neck (don’t ever forget the neck, guys!), and massage it into my skin. You don’t need to be over-enthusiastic with it because it quickly vanishes into the skin. And ta-da! The skin looks instantly matte, and those annoying pores are visibly diminished. So those are two fewer things I have to worry about for the rest of the day! Yay me!
