First Blog Post

Hello, and welcome to my very first blog post!  It feels so odd saying that because up until some months ago, this whole social media thing was alien to me.  But a dull afternoon led me to snap a picture with my iPhone and off-handedly upload it to an Instagram page which I created whilst waiting for my leftover spaghetti to heat up in the microwave.  And just like that, Wands & Wings was created and I got hooked on this whirlwind journey of social media.  And now, 9 months later and after countless speculations, I’ve finally taken the plunge and started a blog page, which is meant to be somewhat of a continuum to my Instagram page.

Now, onto the actual blogging…

For my first post I thought I’d share with you some Mac beauty stuff I purchased over the weekend (who doesn’t love a good old Mac haul?). I never intended to pop into a Mac store last Saturday, but as it happened, following a busy afternoon shopping, as we were heading back towards the car-park, I spotted a Mac store across the street. Didn’t I need a new foundation? I had almost forgotten! I dashed into the store after promising my husband I will only be 5 minutes (he hates makeup shopping, how inconvenient!).  But once I stepped inside I forgot all about him and casually perused and swatched countless items, almost forgetting what I went in for.   A solid 20 minutes later, and to the utter dismay of my husband, I ended up paying for the foundation, a replacement mascara, a new powder, and a travel-size Prep + Prime Fix+ because the salesgirl conveniently pointed out it was 50% off (and who can resist a bargain, really?)

The Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation is one that I have been repurchasing numerous times.  It’s got medium-full coverage and a matte finish which is perfect for my oily skin.  And it lasts a good workout, so five points for its staying power! The In Extreme Dimension Lash mascara is amazing for giving a full-lash effect without much effort at all.  I like to do my upper body workouts at the gym not at my vanity table, you know.  The Mineralize Foundation loose powder is one that I’ve never tried before, but I loved its soft cashmere-texture, and the salesgirl promised me it is good for baking makeup, not that I do much of it – in the kitchen or anywhere else.  But I am excited to give it a go and see. I have very high hopes for this 30ml bottle of the Prep and Prime Fix + because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.  It’s a primer, a setting spray, an eyeshadow enhancer, and a glow mist all in one, so I’m sure I will get my money’s worth out of it, one way or another. So thank you, salesgirl-in-a-messy-top-bun-and-purple-lipstick; I almost missed out on this gem!

What is your latest Mac purchase? I’d love to know!

  1. Congratulations to your blog. I love the behind the scenes story of your haul. My hubby is exactly the same. He hates Sephoras. Haha. I hope you love the Fix+ It’s so handy. Lots of love, Desi (stunnydesi_loves on IG)

    1. Thanks so much, Anna! I really appreciate your feedback 🙂 I love that powder too; I should probably pick that up because I am not really enjoying this new powder so far… Hugs, xx

  2. Yay for your first blog post!

I haven’t tried that powder yet. I’ll be curious to hear what you think about it. The Fix + is a must-have, though!!

    1. Yay for checking it out! Thanks dear 🙂 I am loving it so far, the Fix +, but the powder is a bit too heavy for me. However I will give it a proper try before sharing my thoughts about it. Hugs, xx
